I can't reproduce that with mate-themes-3.22.24 and fedora 38.
Maybe a packaging problem with your distribution? Edit: it doesn't matter if i use compositing or not. Close symbol is always there. |

Expected behaviour
There's should be a symbol in the close button for the dconf-editor window.
Actual behaviour
There's no symbol in the close button for the dconf-editor window.
Distributions: Ubuntu MATE 22.04, Ubuntu MATE 23.04.
sudo apt-get install mate-themes
dconf-editor
mate-appearance-properties
under the Theme tab. The symbol in the close button for the dconf-editor window appears as it should.gsettings set org.mate.Marco.general compositing-manager false
