I know that if mate-system-monitor is removed and gnome-system-monitor is present it will open when the system monitor is selected from the window-list's right-click menu. I myself haven't heard of HTOP but if it works the same way installing only it might work. If not, a symlink to HTOP (or anything else you want to open this way) named mate-system-monitor with normal mate-system-monitor not installed would probably work.
Is there a way to make the panel monitor indicator open HTOP on click rather than the regular system monitor?
