I understand that issue #6 removed the mate-system-monitor desktop file from being seen in other desktop environments and other mate projects around this time were doing similar actions. Is it still the consensus that the desktop for this shouldn't show up in other DEs? I don't use the mate desktop environment, but I like the individual software applications within it, especially this one. Is there any possibility to allow this to be seen from other desktop environments? At the very least, some option somewhere command line or GUI to allow this? I can automate the process of changing the desktop file for myself after/during every update, but it's another nuisance I have to deal with.
I understand the argument that if this desktop file were to be seen in other DE's, it would add clutter to the menus if similar applications are already installed (and if the erroneous applications can't be individually uninstalled for some reason), but the user could easily just remove the erroneous entries from their application menu without any adverse effects (assuming most application menu GUIs have the ability to allow the user to delete the desktop entry of choosing).
