development, test and usage has to be easier

  • right now we have cxxproject and a handful of plugins
  • updating cxxproject can still break the plugins
  • other tools (e.g. bake) need to use the core of cxxproject
  • update of cxxproject should update all dependent gems
  • build and test has to be easy
    • currently a test of a cxx feature involves one or more plugins...those have to be installed or the checked out and the path has to be adapted - doable but not comfortable

our internal gerrit has a project with a manifest in it which checks out everything needed from our gerrit.
perhaps we could add another manifest for the correcsponding github projects.
another possibility would be to move the development completely to github (not just the releases)
