Links in README.rst to "background reading" are no longer valid

I was reading up on this project and noticed that three links in the README.rst in the "background reading" section are no longer valid. I found archives of the pages using the Wayback Machine.

Perhaps these should be converted into another format archived into the docs folder?

For background reading see these two papers on the spatial distributed versioning Concept, Implementation, and Potential Development.

Those links seem to be fixed but it's probably a good idea to pull them into the docs.
