I just added a couple of menu items to MintMenu 6.1.4 on Linux Mint 20.2 and for some reason these items were duplicated as were their related categories. If I go into the <Edit Menu> command and delete the offending items they just reappear. Running mate-panel --reset did not appear to do anything other than removing all my desktops??
Can anyone provide some guidance as to what I need to do to resolve this weird behavior?

After some dredging around I found that the fix was mate-panel --reset and then
An immediate reboot and then
Deleting the offending categories.
Though I am still confused as to why adding a new item to the menu would create these duplicate entries. I found that by deleting the Category duplicate it also removed the actual duplicate item.
