Scrobble each song played in Rhythmbox to your ampache server. Alternatively you can also just cache to a local file. Replace last.fm with your homespun alternative or record playback which can be synced later to other places/devices.
Start using the elapsed time of the song instead of waiting for events that aren't easily tracked.
Scrobble in a smarter way and let the server handle it!
To install from the terminal using make:
make install
To install from the terminal using python (also checks dependencies!)
python3 ./install.py
If you want to install manually, extract to the following directory:
- $HOME/.local/share/rhythmbox/plugins/ampache-fm/
You can test python dependencies by running:
python3 -c "import depends_test; depends_test.check()"
- Ampache URL: The URL or your ampache server
- Ampache API Key: Your API Key! (no username and password to keep it simple)
- Cache Location: This can be a Directory or a full file path.
When using a directory the default filename is added (ampache-fm.txt)
- Both of these path's will cache to the same location/file.
- /home/user/cache/ampache-fm.txt
- /home/user/cache
- Cache Size Limit (bytes): The size limit of your log file. (Default 10Mb)
- Rotate Large files: Rename large files with the epoch time they are rotated
- ampache-fm.txt -> ampache-fm1510722240.txt
Direct scrobbling made possible by the python3-ampache library! [https://github.com/ampache/python3-ampache]
Did you lose internet and want to resync your play history?
In the plugin preferences select "Backfill From Cache File".
This will sync your current cache with the Ampache database that will allow you to maintain a single point of truth for my playback data.
Now you are able to completely remove yourself from external caching services keeping this information under YOUR control.
