Now that jacktrip 2.0 has video, is there a plan to upgrade this? #145

I haven't tried JackTrip 2.0, it appears have a lot of changes (it's Qt6 based vs. Qt5). I would expect that the video usage might not work so well in the web-based Jambox GUI, which runs over VNC. Small infrequently updated thumbnails can work (JamTaba does this), but multiple windows of full-motion video over VNC on a Raspberry Pi, while handling realtime audio, is likely to cause problems. My advice to people who want video is: Use the Raspberry Pi only for audio, for best audio quality. Run any video (i.e. zoom call) on a separate window on your laptop or tablet, not on the Raspberry Pi. I don't think I heard from any Jambox users running JackTrip. I did some development work on a newer (unreleased) Jambox version that works pretty well with JackTrip audio, using JackTrip 1.6.1 GUI. If I ever get back to working on that, I'll switch to JackTrip 2.x, and try out the video capability. -Kevin |

I appreciate a lot your answer. I agree with using Raspberry for sound only under vnc. I will look into Jamtaba. I actually was thinking on just trying to learn how to set up a server to make some experiments with my friends to reduce the latency. If you pursue Jacktrip further, I would like to hear from it! Thanks again. -Adrian. |

I am not sure if it is possible to create a hub server anymore. I am not sure if the video capability is only available for the servers they provide.
Has anyone succeeded in creating a Jacktrip server with video?
