I've been using Whiteboardsoftware for several years now for remote 1 on 1 tutoring. I've got thousands of hours of experience. Mostly doing it for math.
May general takeaway is that you need reduced functionality which is very well implemented from UI/UX POV.
For example:
Since you are performing live in front of another person you want every needed function to be accesable in as little actions as possible.
What solution would you like to see?
For tutoring you need:
Copy pasting files very easily. Most importantly images but also pdfs.
Before pasting there needs to be an option to cut images
Before pasting pdf you need to be able to cut pages by numbers
Before adding pdf you need to be able to set the way how pages are added.
The most important tools are: simple Pen, Textmarker, , undo, redo., laserpointer, eraser, delete, zoom in/out (make them alll shortcut accesible)
duplicate function (either select a rectangle which creates a mini screenshot and copy paste or duplicate and move)
automatic grouping of what has been written so you can move a sentence
when moving on the whiteboard you would like to be able to make the camera follow so your guests can follow your viewport

Drawing rectangles or other shapes is usually a waste of time in a meeting where you are trying to explain something.
Zooming in and out is a wonderful tool to steer attention. Much better than a laser pointer. You still need the laser pointer.
The laser pointer needs a point when standing still. Not being able to stop is an unnecessary distraction for the speaker.
