So everyone knows Discord is using twemoji (recently switched to this fork). Also, a lot of people have been switching to the dark themes lately, and are using dark theme in Discord, which is essentially the default theme. Now, if you go here https://emojipedia.org/telephone-receiver/ you will see that this emoji is not universally identical in all emoji design sets, some of them have this emoji in bright color, as opposed to blunt gray color. This, imo, comes down to the fact that, for example, in Discord it's very hard to see this emoji, and is generally considered bad design (consider white text on white paper).
The only reason I see that anyone would be against changing it is for the memes. Otherwise this needs to be considered for a redesign.
