I wanted to let y'all know I passed my CCNA exam, large in part due to my practice with netlab! Can't say exactly how, NDA and all, but without netlab I wouldn't have passed.

It reminds me 15 years ago (that long?!) when I prepared my CCNA on production devices, when the lab at work didn't have what I wanted 😅

I bet haha, though there's definitely something to using physical hardware.

While it's important to touch physical hardware if you want to be a well-rounded networking engineer, I always found "I have to work with the physical hardware" overrated. After all, nobody ever got a better programmer just because they could hug the server 😜

Having said that, there are a few things you can learn only when working with the physical gear (low-level details, link degradation, racking/stacking/wiring stuff), but you can get 99% there (for the entry- and intermediate level) with virtual machines. The only exception might be the password recovery.

Yeah absolutely, Id love to. Id definitely like to touch on the accessibility aspect, since im low vision, its a lot easier for me to work entirely in terminal than it is with GUI topologies.
