Pressing the "Voice" button (key 216) on my LG Optimus V has no effect. With stock ROM, a dialog would open asking me to use a voice command. How do I get this functionality back, or make the key open another app?

Also, ButtonRemapper (from the Market) won't let me set the key to VOICE, I was messing with it, and I had to edit /system/usr/keylayout/thunder_keypad.kl to change the key back to VOICE.

Yes, I have tried the same. System does not know what is VOICE action. If you bind key 216 to another action in thunder_keypad.kl, it works. I you set it to VOICE, nothing happens. Maybe we can find a way to define the VOICE action in the system (i.e. run Voice dialer)

Yea, if I use ButtonRemapper to map key 216 to something like Power or EndCall, it works fine. Is there an app we can install to maybe map VOICE to a command (as a workaround until it can be defined in the ROM)?

The VOICE button isn't implemented… yet.

It still is not working now on the latest CM7.1.0.1-BobZ or on the latest BACKside rom (which is what i am useing right now).

I am mostly interested in being able to set that button to launch a particular app, maybe voice maybe something else. How hard would it be to set it to trigger some event that maybe tasker could pick up on, or add a system setting to choose what it launches?

This still appears to be an issue in CM-7.2.0-RC0-IHO-KANG (I'm using the MiRaGe 12012011 build). Can I vote this issue up somehow?
