I love the theme, but have to work in bright environments sometimes and it's just too dark then to be comfortable. I would like to have a light version to switch between them.

Could you do a light version that follows the same semantics, so that it still feels familiar?
Or is there a similar light theme that you could recommend?

@KoB-Kirito Thanks for the suggestion! I also have similar thoughts in the past few months.

Need to check how many modifications have to do.

Thanks for looking into it :)

Contrast would be the key for such theme. Even other light themes don't really get that with pastel colors on white background which is hard to read 🤔

If you don't want to add a light version, how about a high contrast version then?

Hi @KoB-Kirito @amirhakim, thank you for your interest.

I do like to share the current status of this project.

My vision is to build a modern, productivity-oriented, and universal-language-consistent color theme across different IDEs.

To align my vision, I am currently working on the following strategies

  • color modernization - modernize the existing dark theme color palette
  • light version - for a bright environment
  • better maintenance model - single source to generate on both VSCode, Intellij, and future IDE configuration, i.e. Fleet)
  • enable users to build different variants easily

If you have any good ideas for light themes color palettes, please share with me :). It would be a big help.

I'm used to the current colors, but the colors are not even that important. I like that everything has its own color and is grouped nicly. It's the productivity boost I'm after.
I use Rider with C# and VB.Net. The built in tools never seemd to work for me, but this theme just works good.

For a light theme I would keep the colors, just on a white background, and darken those that would not have enough contrast then. I currently use Lotus Light when outside. It reads good, but does not differtiate as much as gapstyle does.

@KoB-Kirito Noted your preferences, but my concern is to manually maintain two sets of themes will slow down the afterwards process.

Personally, I feel difficult to read on the Lotus Light theme color and It just looks like what I have done the POC in 2021.

I think GapStyle would achieve way much better than this.

I hope so. That's why I requested it :)

The recent decision of the GapStyle Light mode key colors will be designed in this way. I hope it can give better visibility to everyone.

Sounds promising. Looks like the colors will then be as complementary to each other as they are in the dark design. That might make it feel familiar 👍🏻
