New site. Logged in as whatsup.

We have the notes from the public meeting on the web site in a news item. However, when people click on the link they get the Ooops page error.

I have tried to edit the news item http://www.hernehill.org.uk/news/herne-hill-public-meeting-8-oct-notes-actions to put in a downloadable file but the "link" icon does not offer the option of a downloadable file any more.

I can download the file when logged on as a site admin but not as a plan user.

Now stuck as to how to get the file on the web site so that people can download it. Help/advice needed @pmackay

@pmackay if there was some guidance about this issue it would help. We have a queue of people wanting the minutes of the waste meeting and we are unable to send them out easily. Ta everso

@GilesGibson I've downloaded and re-uploaded the PPT. Can you describe exactly how you uploaded it? I think it might have been in a private file space, hence regular users cannot download. It had a path of www.hernehill.org.uk/system/files/.... It now has www.hernehill.org.uk/sites/default/files/... which is what i would expect.

Please check and close if now OK.

OK, great, it now works for my plain test user. I didn't upload it originally. When I tried to edit the news item and put in a downloadable file the "link" icon didn't offer "upload", just URL type links.

How would/could the original person (Tricia) have saved it in a private area? Be good to know and also be good to know how we are meant to do this in future?
Thanks for looking.

Tricia is our admin person and I think we gave extra permissions.

Can you get to the "upload process" via the "link" icon in the editor? I couldn't find it.

Ah, do you mean the "add media" icon? I had thought that was only pictures to be inserted. My mistake.

What benefit would there be in keeping the option to upload to a private area? If no obvious benefit then I would disable it.
