VS Code freezing by coverage being continuously collected

When I use the CLI, the response from the server is instantaneous (even when I make changes). In VS Code, editing documents also gives me instantaneous feedback. When I save a file I'm editing, VS Code hangs for a long time and the Flow server status is showing that coverage is being collected.

Can I opt out of of coverage being collected somehow, being that I don't really need it (I have toggled to hide coverage reporting)?
