Description

no explorer or files app opens when opening an directory when using opera gx or the windows start menu

Steps To Reproduce

  1. open opera gx
  2. download an file from the internet
  3. try to open it by clicking the downloads dropdown & the folder icon after dropdown apiers
  4. opera gx gives error:

Thanks for the report, try going to Files settings > Advanced > turn off Set as default.

Thanks for the report, try going to Files settings > Advanced > turn off Set as default.

Done, now it doent do anything, just like I have tried to add the keys manualy but after restart: gives error again

Does the toggle not change or you mean that the error box doesn't show? You shouldn't run the registry files manually either.

the keys I have added manually sinds they didnt exsist in the first place

no I didnt run the .reg files manually & yes the pop-up came and I clicked yes

I meant when clicking to open the directory from the downloads menu from opera gx (about: opening directory, not what happend with the toggle)

Can you open this https://raw.githubusercontent.com/files-community/Files/main/src/Files.App/Assets/FilesOpenDialog/UnsetFilesAsDefault.reg > Right click anywhere > Save as > Set "Save as type" (Around the bottom) to all files > Remove .txt from the end of file name > Run the file

done, btw get preview of contents with an app before executing it:

(I have created an file my self & pasted the contents of the link and saved it as an .reg file)

I don't know what you mean, the preview comes from Power Toys not Files. Does Windows File Explorer open as expected?

still nothing happens, I am sure I get the same error after restarting & then trieing it again (btw, need to go sleep now, sinds its late here)

The only other thing I can suggest it to restart Windows and undo what ever changes CoPilot has said. As the unset script undoes any change Files would do

I added those my self so far I can see (they didnt exist when I added them, but can look in to that)

nope other location, saved it to favoriets what made it easy to find
yes did delete those
