Ubuntu 16.04 is now EOL so should be updated to use supported versions. The images to use would need to be ones that are part of the support matrix. It seems reasonable to use the most recent LTS version of Ubuntu for each Elastic Stack version that the template supports.
Is it possible to change the image that's specified for the nodes? It's using Ubuntu Server 16.04.0-LTS.
Could I change this to Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04, or perhaps the FIPS-supported editions of 16.04 or 18.04?
