I'm leaning toward using this nicer/newer format for the github fork cta: http://tholman.com/github-corners/. What do you think? The ribbons are from 2008.

Hmm neither of these looks quite right to me. Both seem to overlap with content in an odd way, especially on narrower screens and on mobile. Any thoughts?

Two ideas:

• top left corner? or a bottom corner? lol
• forego the banner and have it somewhere on the page (less good?)

also! I imagine it could be modified to use a color compatible with our color scheme? even just a gray-er tone could help (instead of the black)
