Drive browser natively, without Selenium Server

Hi,

Is it possible to use WebDriver-PHP to drive the browser natively? Arguably, this ability is one of the coolest things about webdriver (well to me anyways).

Would be quite handy (and faster?) to be able to do this when developing tests locally, and then later change the driver to use a Selenium Server (or Sauce) when the test is complete.
