Question about the state of official access to marker genes

Dear devs,

While searching for ways to access the marker genes presented in the cellguide tab in bulk I encountered plans to introduce an API for that and the following revert of those changes and now I wanted to ask if and approximately when this functionality will return.

Also, I found this endpoint in the code which serves marker genes just fine (if you know how to ask for it). Am I allowed to query this thing or is that not supposed to be publicly visible? (I saw that you had problems with people scraping CellGuide already, that's why I'm asking)
