I'm not sure we're explicit about this anywhere, but as much as possible we work in the open. This means that all work is visible to the world, not just other contributors. I feel like contributors might not be aware of this and I don't want them to be taken by surprise when they find out that something they were working on is actually in public view. Here's a short list of things that are publicly visible:

  • Google calendar (keep that in mind when posting event addresses)
  • Google drive
  • Github issues, PRs, comments, repos
  • Backend API
  • Github wiki

We should also add a brief note on when information should not be public. You should definitely add access controls to something that contains Personally Identifiable Information like individual names, addresses, phone numbers, any location data, etc.

Oh and of course, this disclaimer should be front and center on all of our READMEs or onboarding guides.
