Want to open a link in a new tab and switch to it immediately- NOT WORKING

I want Firefox to open a new tab and switch focus to that tab automatically when I click on a link in Brief (and in every web site). I have the appropriate FF settings check box above checked and I have restarted Firefox. I installed the addon below

Tried a few changes in about:config but have not found the correct one (or combination).

This does not happen in other web sites, only Brief

This has been broken for years. It used to work, then it didn't...
