Many cell types already have defined markers for their lineage and type. Tissue samples are complex mixtures of cells. Suppose I wanted to examine the effect of a treatment only in a select cell population.
It would be good to have a mechanism to look at the 1D and 2D distributions of genes from the experiment and specifically select or deselect cells that highly express some marker and use those in further analyises. For example, selecting based on an epithelial marker to examine the effect of a treatment in cancer cells. I would want to remove the blood cells from the mixture and I should be able to do this with known markers.
I think modifications to the distributions widget that would allow a searchable selection of the markers and then making the distribution selectable would be good.
