Description of the Issue

Highlighting is not applied when opening a file through NppFTP in Notepad++ 8.4.
(I've only tried .php files)

Steps to Reproduce the Issue

Open a file through NppFTP in Notepad++ 8.4.

Expected Behavior

Highlighting

Actual Behavior

Highlighting missing

There are two different problems:

  1. N++ 8.4+ evidently has a problem with the file reloading (Ctrl+R).
  2. NppFTP has a problem with superfluous file reloading (see the NppFTP sends NPPM_RELOADFILE message to N++ when "No" is clicked in file reload dialog #327 , there is also a patched binary inside that issue - I suppose it will solve your issue with the lost syntax highlighting while opening a file via the NppFTP, but the N++ file reloading problem still needs a fix...)
