Using the chromecast as a wireless audio sink would be a nice feature and possible only a small task since this is already written in JS.

This can be done fairly easily by opening the Groove Basin web client in Chrome/Chromium and then casting the tab using the Google Cast app. I just tried this and it worked quite well. If streaming is set to "on" in the web client, audio plays out of the device connected to the chromecast. Is this what you were thinking of?

Would be best if it could be done without requiring the browser to be running all the time. Perhaps the
mkchromecast package, available in Debian as https://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mkchromecast.html , could help there?

There is also a python library to talk to chromecast units, check out https://packages.qa.debian.org/p/pychromecast.html .

There is also the pulseaudio-dlna plugin, and that doesn't require modifying groovebasin.
