Welcome to the Ziffers wiki!
Ziffers is a generative musical notation and library for algorithmic composition influenced by numbered musical notation, musical set theory, music macro language, abcnotation and other notations used in different live coding languages.
Ziffers uses integer notation (0-9TE) to represent notes in some scale, a set of characters to the define the rhythm and roman numerals (in lower case) to define chords. It is also possible to use degree based notation (1-7) etc. See Notation for more details.
Ziffers is also a growing library of methods to generate, play and loop melodies, as well as apply different musical techniques and effects to the generated melodies. See Methods and Generative methods for more details.
To learn more about Ziffers and relation to other live coding and mini-notation languages, see the ICLC 2023 article. Ziffers is also implemented for two other live coding environments (Sardine and Topos.
If something isnt working as expected post an issue. Thanks!
