I am not sure that is what is happening, but I think the API responses (that I handle via Vite's regular proxy options) are also "transformed" by vite-plugin-proxy-page, which leads to conversion of the JSON response into text printed inside HTML and quite some headaches trying to make it work.

Is it possible to only trigger the plugin for the index.html?
