This guide assumes you're running Arch, or some other Arch-based distro capable of accessing the AUR. If not, Flatpak instructions are also included.
Also, since I'm lazy, I'll be referring to SteamTinkerLaunch as STL.
If you don't have STL, there are two versions available. One through the AUR, and on through Flathub. Unless you're using the Flatpak version of Steam, you'll want to use the AUR version.
This should go without saying, but please read through every step before coming and saying something is wrong.
Installation
AUR:
An example using paru. If you're using yay, just swap the names.
paru steamtinkerlaunch
FLATPAK:
Unless you're using KDE's Discover, STL must be installed through the Flatpak CLI, like so:
Linux users need to use Proton as a Compatibility Tool. This'll go over how to do that, and how to override the tool being used, so only XCOM launches STL.
For AUR users, you need to run the following command to add STL as a Steam Compatibility Tool:
steamtinkerlaunch compat add
Both Flatpak and AUR users should restart Steam at this point.
Go to Settings -> Steam Play, and ensure both checkboxes are enabled. Set the dropdown menu to the latest version of Proton or to Experimental.

Now right-click XCOM 2. Select Properties -> Compatibility, and set STL to be the compatibility tool for it.

SteamTinkerLaunch Stuff
After the game updates (if it does), launch it. You'll be prompted to open STL's Settings page. Do that.
In the bottom list of buttons, click "GAME MENU". In the next config window that appears, enable "Use custom command", set "Custom command" to the path of AML's "XCOM2Launcher.exe", and enable "Only custom command".
Image Example
Select "SAVE AND PLAY".
You're done!
That's it! AML should launch and you can follow the rest of the instructions as usual.
