The lightify plug connected to my hue is shown as a light in the gateway, with a dimming function which the plug doesn't have.

I think at a minimum all Philips Hue bulbs have dimming functionality, they additionally support hue/saturation/temperature/color-space properties. The Hue Bridge API doesn't have feature discovery, it just sort of assumes capability.

The Hue Bridge API does have model/firmware so l guess in theory a list/database could be maintained of devices and capabilities but that's cumbersome and wouldn't be universal.

How does the device show in the Philips Hue App? Do you have a Google or Echo smart speaker? How does it see the Osram plug in app?
