Update README file and make it developer-friendly

Figure out how to use proper text formatting, including enumerated lists and clickable hyperlinks from the README file to files/folders in this GitHub repository. Make it as friendly as possible for people who want to understand how to integrate their component.

References to lines might break in future, if the files are updated. If you absolutely need to do this, obtain from the revision history a link to a specific revision of the respective file (in which the line numbers will be stable). In the bar on the left you can then click on the line numbers to obtain the URL of the respective line in the respective revision of the file.
