I like this setup!

Let's put a schedule around this:

Seems to fit just in 3 hours. I added a re-vote on logging in at #14, as maybe we should not spend a third of the time of logging in ...

I believe that log in can be shortened a bit.
VS Code is used more and more but there'll be a specific event for that. We should however advertise that workshop.
Reducing login a bit may give us more time to actually have the use-case of many small files to be transferred.

Let's put a schedule around this, with the current prerequisites:

I've ruthlessly added my favorite content for the third hour., but we can debate that any time :-) . I think this schedule gives enough time in the 1st and 2nd hour.

What do you think?

So from issue #14

I would like to have like 30 minutes connecting with Thinlinc and 1-2 different terminal tools (could be extra exercise)
This involves some overviews of what's available and pros/cons. This information may not be present in all centers documentation.

Björns suggestion:

  • 30 min intro and login (also including X11)
  • 15 mins: FileZilla
  • 15 mins break
  • 30 mins: FileZilla
  • 15 mins: File transfer using rsync
  • 15 mins break
  • 15 mins: File transfer using rsync
  • 30 mins: File transfer using scp and sftp

As per #14 I infer that the NAISS training coordinator demands we need to discuss login.

I predict the login session and the rsync sessions are too short; the schedule seems to have too much wishful thinking in it to me, but I am happy to test your instincts.

This is what I would suggest, but again, if you want to test your instincts, I will agree with your last suggested schedule :-)

  • 45 min intro and login (also including X11) 15 mins longer
  • 15 mins break
  • 45 mins: FileZilla
  • 15 mins break
  • 45 mins: File transfer using rsync
  • 15 mins: File transfer using scp and sftp added 15 mins, course will be 3 hours exactly
