Is it possible (or meaningful) to integrate the render engine for upbge0.2 into the new upbge0.3?

I came across a statement that upbge0.2 has render engine optimized for low-end computers while 0.3+ do not. So, I wonder whether is it possible (or meaningful) to integrate the render engine for upbge0.2 into the new upbge0.3, so that the new features can be used on low-end computers?
