Hi everyone, this is just a quick update on the Tracktion Engine licensing system.
We’ve migrated the old purchasing system to a new one and and added some docs to clarify licensing terms. You can find the new system here: https://engine.tracktion.com
Existing customers:
First of all, if you have an existing paid license, you should have received an email to activate your subscription and payment terms on the new service. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid missing payments. If you have any questions, please respond to the email you received and we’ll do out best to sort you out.
FAQs:
Secondly, we’ve added a list of FAQs below the licensee tiers that you should read through. There seems to be some confusion as to how many seats individuals/organisations need so we’ve tried to make that clearer. In summary, you need a seat for each developer who has worked concurrently on the software using Tracktion Engine. Please update the number of seats you are subscribed to if you don’t have enough. If you’re unsure, please get in contact with us.
Additionally, although we’ve mentioned it in several places, Tracktion Engine does not include a JUCE license, we are completely separate entities, this will need to be purchased separately, in accordance with their terms from juce.com.
Support:
As Tracktion Engine usage has grown, we’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to keep bang up to date with support from all the available channels. This means we will have to prioritise support to paying license holders (although we’ll still offer the current level of support to free and GPL users, it may be slightly delayed). There is a new feature in the subscription portal where you can enter your JUCE forum username and GitHub account name. We will use these to make sure paying customers have their reports prioritised.
Additionally, we’ve created templates in GitHub which should be used to report issues. These provide prompts and template code for unit tests. Filling these out gives us the best chance to understand your problem and fix it in a timely manner. Fully filled out bug reports/FRs will also be prioritised.
Finally, thanks to everyone using Tracktion Engine, seeing all the cool projects large and small people create is what makes working on such a complex project worth while. If you’d like to share what you’ve made with it let us know!
