Copy of owner doesn't work anymore

When trying to copy the owner field on a user story the following error is displayed:

Create Error when copying "user story name":
Error setting value for field [ Owner ]: Cannot use type Release in attribute Owner. Value must be of type User.

I'm having the same issue sometimes. Trying to debug where/why it is happening.
