scan doesn't add files

I just installed playdar on debian lenny (armel). Build went fine, the debug start goes well, starting a scan from another window also does not complain, but returns rather quickly (given a directory with several hundreds of files). numfiles reports after the scan 1 file available. I thought that it might be that the scanner did not recurse into directories, but even on the lowest level of directories, no files are added. I see no errors in the debug window. after a scan i get the message: 2011/04/28 07:56:10 info library_dets library synced

any ideas?
