Evaluate alternatives to the LiPo currently in use to optimize for temperature and serviceability.
The battery chosen is a standard Lithium-Ion rechargeable pouch cell with a nominal 3.7V. This is not a problem electrically, but having a rechargeable battery will introduce complications during intrinsic safety evaluation because the means of charging the battery will need to be exposed to the hazardous environment and so all connections will need electrical barriers in place. A possible solution to circumvent this issue would be to charge the battery wirelessly. Such designs are feasible but can be costly.
Further, the lithium cells will need to have undergone significant safety testing in order to be used in a commercial product, and so it is likely that this particular battery would need to be replaced.
An evaluation of the requirement for a rechargeable battery should be conducted. If instead primary cells could be used, this would be significantly easier to design around.
