Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The subroutine/function latlon2xyz is defined in three locations in FMS: interpolator, diag_grid, and mosaic_utils.c. There should only be one latlon2xyz that is used within FMS.

Describe the solution you'd like
Define latlon2xyz for example in axis_utils2, and remove and replace duplicate latlon2xyz in the abovementioned modules.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Leave as is.
