I think it might be best if the application is packed into an installer of sorts and should be installed like a proper application, as well as using OpenVR in-order to app the application show up as an Overlay app for SteamVR so the application can be set to auto start with SteamVR.

The ideas of having the application automatically start with SteamVR has been recently talked about in my Discord server. There is a good chance I would like to do this, as it would be very handy. As far as a full UI for an overlay, I would definitely have to learn a lot about how SteamVR overlays are handled; as I do not know where to even begin on doing that. But may be helpful for sure, so it wouldn't off the table too. It may take some time for sure; I have to learn new things, as well as juggle my personal and work life around.
