Add a field on the frontend to submit new open directories for submission to the site, with an email area for results in the format of the Reddit posts, and the user's choice of a reCaptcha (faster to tell humans apart from robots, however invades privacy) or an hCapticia (more privacy preserving, but shows the dialog more frequently which is way more annoying if it is the only one) only if you are concerned about spam or honeypots.

This already mostly exists in the form of https://github.com/Chaphasilor/OpenDirectoryDownloader-gui

It can scan an OD, show you the results and optionally submit them to ODCrawler. There is no hosted version at this moment, but I'm planning to get it up and running again.

Submitting an OD to the backend might still be worth investigating, because some ODs simply take ages to scan and OpenDirectoryDownloader-gui is not really suited for this...

Can this actually be fixed, it gives an application error.
