Screen freezing and random input with no touch

Steps to reproduce

No action causes the issue.

Expected behavior

Screen should react to touches and apps should only open when clicked.

Actual behavior

Screen freezes. It can be returned to normal by turning the phone off and on (without rebooting). Sometimes several of these are needed.

Sometimes random apps open without any touch, several at the same time (5 or 6). Sometimes random input from the keyboard can be observed, when the keyboard is being used, as if something was touching the keyboard randomly.

Anecdotally (no hard evidence on this):

1. it gets worse when the phone is low in battery
2. It has improved with this build (2022-W24)

On RC channel I have some time the same issue with a Pixel 3aXL

I have the same issue. on my Volla Phone
I thought it was fixed in the RC channel but after using it for a day it started to act weird again :(
I hope this can be fixed quickly.
It really ruins my experience of using Ubuntu Touch as main phone.

I have taken the screen protector out, and also the case protector. I've been running the phone "naked" for two days, and I haven't seen this issue at all. The phone is perfectly responsive.

If this continues like this for more days I will close this issue. If you are affected, please open an issue with your own description of your device and problem.

I have created a similar issue on the VollaOS repo, as exactly the same happens on my phone. But since it happens on different OSs, the question comes up, whether this is more a hardware issue or caused by underlying software?
