The Helioviewer image data set now contains images that do not image (either explicitly or implicitly) the full disk of the Sun. To exploit the richness of these data, new API capabilities are needed. It should be possible to query the image dataset by its solar location, extent and spatial resolution. A use case: let's say a user wants to make a movie of full disk, high resolution XRT data over a month. Since XRT data can return full and sub-full disk images and do on-board pixel summing, simply setting the filter wheel combinations and a time-range is not sufficient. An API that can return images that follow a specific configuration will allow the creation of the XRT movie above. Further, such an API will be extremely useful in implementing other spatial functionality.

Field of view is also important. The ultimate goal would be to provide a co-observational search capability. Here's a question - give me the flares that were co-observed by STEREO-A, AIA and IRIS. I'd like that returned as some kind of list, and then the user would be able to jump to those observations. How would that be implemented?
