Using Overtype mode while filling out fields of Snippet leaves tab stop

When using snippets in VSCode, you can use the TAB key to flick between fields, if the snippet is configured that way. If you are using a snippet, and are trying to use this extension, it immediately breaks the tab stops (so pressing tab doesn't go to next tab stop. This is the same behavior as manually clicking somewhere out of the tab stop, or arrow key-navigating out of the current tab stop text).

I'd be interested if this is the same for the new vscode integrated overtype support [currently available in insider, but then also in 1.96]
