I'd allow different kinds of contributions:

  • research articles (with an evaluation)
  • short / application / position articles (no evaluation necessary)
  • demo

I think we can get inspiration from:

However, I think we should be as widely open to contributions as possible, so I would also accept PDF. (Fun idea: we could put the PDF deadline one week earlier than the HTML deadline.)

I think we need to be able to accept PDF, since the submissions are sent through EasyChair (afaik).

Sure; people who submit HTML can just submit an abstract through EasyChair.

IIRC Easychair allows HTML or at least a ZIP.

@csarven Thanks, corrected the terminology (at least I didn't use “paper”). I think ZIP is only for paying EasyChair accounts, but not sure.

If you stick with Easychair, PDF should be fine as one possibility. Ask for the URL of non-PDF contributions, preferably accompanied with a snapshot URL (like from archive.org) or you create it yourself before passing it on to the reviewers. Similar to the process at http://events.linkeddata.org/ldow2017/#submissions (note: it is using a 'framework', I didn't come up with "Submissions" :))
