Lack of required field visual feedback on Safari #172

When a required field is left blank (example: course setting - open & close date) and one attempts to click "update course", there is no feedback.

In comparison on Chrome there is "please fill in this field" prompt. Have not tested Firefox or IE.

Browser: Safari 7.0.4
OS: OS X Maverick
