Virtual Monitor not working correctly #240
Comments
Does reboot your computer fix this problem? |
Unfortunately it did not. I tried uninstalling and going back to the old IDD version that was working for me prior to installing Apollo and it didn't work now either, so it makes me think something got messed up with drivers or something. I just don't know how to figure out what to narrow it down to. |
You seem to be the first one with this problem, this symptom can be named after you 🤣 Can you search through the registry with GSM5B7F and see if there're any leftovers? |
"Dingleberry's Curse" 😂 But I did find many instances of GSM5B7F in my registry. I started screenshotting them all and realized there were probably too many to fit in a post. It keeps going so I can post more if helpful but I understand these probably already hint at an underlying issue of my registry being borked somehow. |
Typical windows behavior... Make a backup of your registry and find some registry cleaner... IDK if CCleaner free version can handle these... |
Hello,
I just tried to set up Apollo, and I'm getting an issue where the virtual monitor is not working correctly. I used to use the old IDD driver and it worked fine, but ever since installing Apollo this afternoon to try enabling HDR streaming to my TV, I've had a problem where the virtual monitor does not show in Windows. I tried uninstalling all old virtual display drivers and dummy monitors (including hidden devices) in Device Manager, uninstalling and reinstalling VDD, and deleting the suggested registry keys for monitors (connectivity, scale factors configuration and monitordatastore). When looking at Windows settings under Display, I see a greyed out monitor where the virtual display should be, but I can't get it enabled. I tried changing the drop down from "Disconnect this display" to "Extend Desktop to this Display," but it automatically resets itself to disconnected.
When I check Generic Monitor (generic monitor deck) in device manager, I see an error that says "Device settings for DISPLAY\SMKD1CE\1&28a6823a&a&UID256 were not migrated from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous device match."
Could this be part of the issue?
I have no idea how to fix this short of reinstalling Windows, which I don't care to do right now.
