DaXin (大新) Cangjie is regarded as the fastest input method for Chinese characters in Taiwan since 2007. It has been the fastest input method (230 characters/min) to type Traditional Chinese in typing competitions and certification activities for Chinese typing held by Taiwan education system for many years. It is now widely accepted as the first choice (noseeing input method was the first years ago) to type Chinese fast in Taiwan.
Note: Daxin means "Big New" or "Brand New" in English. However, Daxin Canghie is created by 宏全資訊股份有限公司 and also the product name from that company, we may not use this term directly. gcin input method engine team uses "newcj" as its table name instead.
The input way (I mean the rules to input Chinese characters) follows Cangjie 3, but simplified (four keys max to type one character). Because the input way follows Cangjie which is in public domain and well known by public, it is believed that there is no patent issue here.
gcin input method engine team is maintaining tables for Daxin Cangjie. Those tables are created according to DaXin Cangjie rules by Daxin Canjie users (caleb is the main or maybe the only one contributor) of gcin.
By the way, there is another variant of cangjie method called "Smart Cangjie" (快速倉頡). It has released the table in terms of GPLv3 and once included in fedora13.
However, that would require a change in libcangjie first.

Right, thanks for this, the last thing we ant is to get sued for trademark violation. :-P
Eventually, we could call it "Taiwan's New Cangjie" or something similar, and explain in the user documentation that it is an attempt to be as compatible as possible with the DaXin Cangjie input method, add the proper ® symbol where necessary, and explicitly disclaim any affiliation with that company.
